China sows power generation for first quarter
Power generation in China fell year-on-year 2020 the first quarter of 6.8%, Xinhua news agency reported on April 18. Electricity production in China during this period reached 1.58 trillion kWh during this period, the National Bureau of Statistics of China reported. In particular, the generation of electricity at hydroelectric power plants decreased by 5.9% year-on-year. Coal-fired electric generation fell by 7.5%, while solar rose by 8.6% annualized. The decline in coal and hydropower production decreased by 1.4 and 6 percentage points, respectively, relative to the period of the first two months of the year. During the first quarter, nuclear and wind power generation increased by 6.9% and 18.1%, respectively.
