Latvia collected more than 10,000 signatures for legalizing same-sex marriage

On the Latvian portal of public initiatives My Voice (Manabalss) collected the necessary number of signatures for the legislative initiative on legitimization of registration of same-sex couples. The collection of signatures was opened on March 9, 2020, at the moment the initiative was supported by more than 10,090 people, writes the portal Tvnet.lv. I find that rights will not become bigger or weaker just because they will be acquired by another category of people. Our society consists of different individuals, relationships and diverse families. It is time to look at this positively, said the initiator of the collection of signatures Raymond Petrovich to journalists of the publication. It is noted that this initiative will be submitted to the Sejm (Parliament) for consideration in the near future. Earlier, a similar bill was rejected by the Parliament of Latvia.
