Former presidents of Panama, Juan Carlos Varela and Ricardo Martinelli, who are in corruption cases with Odebrecht and New Business, are forbidden to leave the country. This was announced on July 3 by the country's prosecutor's office on its page on the social network Twitter. In the Odebrecht case, the prosecutor's office in corruption cases decided to prevent one of the ex-presidents from leaving the country, the Panama department said. It also adds that in relation to another former president of the country, a ban on departure was announced in connection with the case of New Business. At the same time, both former heads of Panama are required to give a monthly report to the prosecutor's office on their whereabouts. In addition, it became known earlier that the ex-heads of the country were taken to the headquarters of the country's anti-corruption prosecutor's office for interrogation in the Odebrecht and New Business cases, and later the prosecutor's office brought charges of money laundering against these persons. We will remind, earlier it became known that some representatives of a number of Latin American countries received bribes in multi-million sizes from Odebrecht, which is one of the main contractors of the Brazilian energy giant Petrobras.
