Lithuania banned the broadcasting of Russian television channels of the RT group

In Lithuania, the television and radio broadcasting commission, subordinate to the country's parliament and controlling the activities of radio and television broadcasters, banned the broadcasting of Russian television channels of the RT group. This was announced today, July 8, by the head of the regulator Mantas Martishus. Taking into account the recommendations of the Foreign Ministry, the commission decided to stop the relay of five RT programs in Lithuania, Martišius said. This decision will enter into force on July 9, when it is published on the official website of the commission. Martishus also added that representatives of the RT group were not invited to the meeting of the commission where this decision was made, since we are not talking about any violations, just Lithuania is complying with the decision of the EU Council on sanctions against RT Director General Dmitry Kiselev, who controls this structure. The RT channel itself, its version of RT HD, as well as RT Spanish, RT Documentary and RT Documentary HD, are banned. Earlier, a similar decision was made in Latvia.
