Social survey: for most citizens of Ukraine on May 9 - victory of the Soviet people
About 52% of citizens of Ukraine believe that Victory Day on May 9 is primarily a celebration of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. This is evidenced by the data of the survey of the Foundation Democratic Initiatives and the Kiev International Institute of Sociology, published today, May 5, the correspondent news agency reports. According to the survey, 32% Ukrainians understand this date as a day of celebration of the victory of the anti-Hitler coalition in World War II and note the contribution of the Ukrainian people to it. For 6% this day is just an additional day off, another 9% said it is difficult for them to answer this question. The survey also found that 51% of Ukrainians were unaware of mass events called the Immortal Regiment; 12% know about them, but treat them negatively. At the same time, they know about the stock and treat it positively 18%, neutral 12%. Sociologists specify that the study was carried out from April 17 to April 22, 2020 in all regions of Ukraine by CATI (telephone interviews using a computer) method based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers.
