Scientists have created a way to increase immunity against cancer

The original method of fighting cancer tumors, returning macrophages to their immune properties, was found by scientists at Harvard University (USA). One feature of cancers is changing the behavior of macrophage immune cells, which in common diseases absorb pathogenic bacteria and viruses, and cancers cause macrophages not to destroy cancer cells and, moreover, stimulate the growth of blood vessels that supply the tumor and ensure the growth of cancer cells. Scientists know that macrophages can make up half the weight of a cancer. The authors of the study were able to equip macrophages with specially created microparticles containing lactic co-glycolic acid PLGA, polyvinyl alcohol and cytokine interferon gamma. Experiments conducted by scientists have shown that improved macrophages were able to resist tumor exposure for several days and even activated antitumor properties in conventional macrophages. This method was tested in mice vaccinated with an aggressive form of cancer. Mice injected with the new agent recorded slower tumor growth and metastasis, resulting in an extended lifespan. According to scientists, the developed agent can increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy in the treatment of cancer. They also suggest high efficacy of the agent in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease and lupus.
